Becoming a woman

Last night as i was lying in bed i was wondering when a girl turned into a woman.

When i was a teenager and my first period came my mother told me that from then on i am a woman. It was because by then my body was biologically mature and capable of conceiving a child.

The girls at school made fun of me because they were convinced that you had to have sex to become a woman. To me that kind of thinking appeared to be stupid and seems to be more so today.

Why a girl would need a penis to become a woman? Is that so that gilrs and women feel incomplete without one? After all why some spotty teenager by putting his penis into some girl's vagina turns her into a woman?

I do not totally agree that a girl who menstruates is a woman but a girl who has sex certainly does not become one just because of it.

Maybe woomanhood comes in two stages. 1 biologically. 2 emotionally. I think the two may be quite a way apart but neither of those requires a penis to get involved at any stage if there is no desire for it...

So why the hell those girls were so stupid and actually believed that becoming a woman is down to a bit of sex?
