I am totally convinced that only with hard work and determination one can get somewhere. Going with the flow is never rewarding. It often ends up the most empty and shallow choice there is.
However, determination id high maitenance. It does not stick around for long spells and it likes abandoning you when you need it most.
Currently it is my children's book and the habit of writing as well as the things I now take for granted - like doing the studies.
I suppose one gets used to anything.
Finding and sustaining drive is hard. Desires and dreams are easy, the effort required to achieving them can be frustrating - not because the effort is necessarily hard, but precisely because it must be sustained for such long periods of time.
ReplyDeleteOften, I feel I battle the same demon every day. I often wish that once I have beaten it, it would stay beaten, but no, it returns refreshed for a new bout the following day. sigh.
I know how you feel. The drive is everything. I do find, however, having an imaginary target helps.
